Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Base
Combine boiling water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  2. Infuse the Spices
Add the lemon, whole cloves, and cinnamon stick to the sweetened water. Let the mixture boil gently for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
  3. Strain the Mixture
Strain the liquid into a clean saucepan to remove the lemon, cloves, and cinnamon stick. Discard the solids.
  4. Heat the Wine
Pour the red wine into the spiced water. Warm the mixture over low to medium heat until it’s hot but not boiling, about 5 to 10 minutes. Boiling the wine will cook off its flavor and alcohol, so keep it gentle.
  5. Serve and Enjoy
Ladle the mulled wine into mugs or heatproof glasses. Garnish with a dash of nutmeg if desired, and enjoy the warmth and fragrance of this seasonal favorite.
